Job Title: Director, Strategic Partnerships and Risk Management
Term: Full-time
Location: Toronto/Vancouver

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

This position is responsible for managing and maintaining the national and provincial strategic roadmap developed by the executive leadership team to support the development of key partnerships with healthcare providers, funders and other stakeholders in the delivery and expansion of rehabilitation services, in line with VLRC’s strategic plan.

This position is will also focus on supporting the VP, Healthcare Innovation in the development of new business and innovation initiatives through research and reporting. The position will oversee the implementation, monitoring and reporting on enterprise risk management framework, and ensure control measures are in place that comply with legislation and best practice. This position is responsible for acting as the organizations go-to person for risk related issues and is responsible for the coordination of monitoring incidents related to risk. The position is responsible for ensuring the processes and policies align with the organizations strategy while building a culture risk awareness, lead by best practices and supporting responsible decision-making.

II. Accountabilities

  • Assure operational plans and quarterly targets for partnership development and management are met.
  • Meticulously track partner outreach, correspondence, input, and requirements for follow up, including meeting notes and tasks.
  • Undertake and monitor research to provide support to the VP, Healthcare Innovation with the development of new models of care
  • Identify new funding opportunities by tracking procurement websites such as Biddingo, and both provincial and federal opportunities
  • Develop documents such as briefing notes, power point presentations, etc. as required
  • Lead the implementation of enterprise risk monitoring while ensuring the processes and policies align with the organizations strategy while building a culture risk awareness.
  • Support the VP, Healthcare Innovation in all risk management activities as required to ensure appropriate management of potential risks, liabilities and mitigation strategies to the organization
  • Build and manage reports that track partnerships, business development and innovation initiatives and risk management processes
  • Work cross-functionally between Executive Leadership team and operational manager

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Exceptional skills in the areas of interpersonal interactions, professional discretion, confidentiality, and accountability
  • High degree of initiative and strategic problem solving
  • Proven track record of partnership management/client service experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Experience tracking key deliverables and following up on outstanding items
  • Highly organized multi-tasker who can manage competing priorities
  • Experience of navigating public organisations procurement policy (RFI, RFP, etc.)
  • Proven track record in exceptional client relationship management
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with good persuasive abilities, tact and discretion and ability to effectively build relationships.
  • Demonstrated strong initiative and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to initiate, develop, coordinate, organize, plan and follow-through with projects

Experience and Education

  • Relevant post-secondary education (bachelor’s degree preferred) with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience supporting and interacting with executive leadership
  • Sound knowledge of the not-for-profit, healthcare, long term care and community services sectors
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset

Work Environment

  • Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate periods of significant pressure, extended workings hours as appropriate.
