Job Summary
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will provide a full-cycle bi-weekly payroll service, including payroll related remittances and reconciliations involving numerous separate payrolls, both union and non-union, for a combined total of approximately 2000 employees. Experience processing payroll for multiple manufacturing locations a must
Principal Responsibilities:
- Process multi-jurisdictional hourly Canadian payrolls in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with company and government policies, terms and regulations using Ceridian HPL and Dayforce
- Upload data via Kronos, excel, or manual data entry
- Prepare month end journal entries and remittances
- Frequent data integrity checks of existing payroll information
- Ensure legislated filings and reporting is completed within deadlines
- Set-up new employees and process terminations
- Administer and remit 3rd party payments; RRSP, WSIB, WCB, CSST and garnishments
- Issue off-cycle payments and prepare adhoc reports as required
- Verify and reconcile vendor invoices and issue payment requests to Finance
- Work with other members of the HR Department to investigate and resolve issues
- Participate in process and procedures improvement for the payroll department and ensure documentation is updated regularly
- Perform at a level that aids in attaining overall and team-level performance measures and goals
- Point of contact for employee related payroll issues
- Conduct data cleanup and key manual data as required
- Other basic Payroll/HR administrative duties as required
Requirements
Qualifications amp; Experience:
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent partnered with a minimum 3+ Years of payroll experience in a manufacturing, unionized environment
- Previous experience using Ceridian/ ADP software
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification is an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proven analytical and decision making skills, good judgement, and the ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks
- Ability to work independently
