Lead QA Engineer Wanted

We are seeking a Lead QA Engineer to be part of our team, for immediate start. Ideally, you have a passion for helping to create quality software with a love of the ocean and robotics.

As the Lead QA Engineer you will be instrumental in helping design and execute on the quality and testing plans for our core technology. You enjoy working in a tight-knit environment where your assessment of product quality translates into rapid product improvements. You have a strong knowledge of coding, developing frameworks, and automation to execute tests at various stages and parts of product development.

Any experience with unmanned systems such as UAV, USV or other autonomous vehicles would be considered an asset for your application.

Core responsibilities
  • Lead a team to identify, develop, and operationalize manual and automated test plans
  • Coordinate across several teams to further embed QA into the CI/CD pipelines
  • Define testing standards and strategies
  • Manage risks and improve processes
  • Plan, conduct, and report on internal and external test events
  • Report defects and requirements deficiencies upstream into product requirements and systems development

Requirements

Skills amp; Qualifications
  • Graduated from a recognized institution with a relevant degree
  • 4+ years of industry experience and expert knowledge in QA testing, including automation
  • 1+ years experience leading QA Team
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with test plan development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good time amp; project management skills
  • Testing experience in some, if not all, of the following
    • Hardware
    • Firmware
    • C++ applications
    • REST APIs
    • Web Application / UI
  • Experience with Linux based operating systems and shell scripting
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, technical aptitude, attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, reliable, self-motivated, team player
  • Additionally it would be valuable to have:
    • Knowledge of AWS services and architecture; EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, ALB, etc.
    • Experience with Container and Orchestration tools; Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes
    • Experience managing and supporting CI/CD environments; GitLab


Conditions:

This is a full-time permanent position based in Victoria, BC available for immediate start. Open Ocean Robotics does not sponsor work visas.
