Job Description
What is the Opportunity?
Based in Toronto and reporting to the Leader of Structural Special Projects, the Technologist will be involved in small and medium structural projects and assist in maintaining a high level of service for the Special Projects practice at Entuitive. This will entail working closely with the other service groups in the firm to ensure consistent, consolidated, and leading-edge service delivery.
This position will primarily be responsible for structural BIM modelling and CAD drawings development as well as project coordination for existing buildings projects in construction. This position will also offer the opportunity for growth into both office and field responsibilities with some site work from time to time. You will be working collaboratively with the project team from initial evaluation through to construction completion. We would like to supplement our existing team with a self-motivated individual, with leadership skills and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
What will you do?
- Structural BIM modelling and CAD drawing development and project coordination. Working in conjunction with the Project Principal, Project Engineer, and other members of the design team to complete projects of varying size and complexity from start to finish
- In our team environment, as workload requires, assist other Project CAD/BIM Technologists in completing work for their project deadlines
- Coordinate the varying responsibilities associated with managing and producing drawings for structural projects, including managing specific files and directories
- Provide support in creation of standards and methods to further the strategic development of relevant BIM technologies
- Working with the project team from initial evaluation through design to construction completion
- Attending site and writing reports subsequent to field work
- Assist in the generation of contract administration documentation
- Attendance at construction progress meetings
- Completion of periodic field review during construction
- Completion of shop drawings review during construction
- Actively participate in learning, reinforcing, and contributing to Entuitive’s one-company philosophy
- Participate in the delivery of a consistently high level of service
- Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign to you from time to time
What do you need to succeed?
- An applicable degree or diploma in architectural or engineering technology
- 5-10 years of related experience drafting, designing, and modeling, with an interest in conducting site work on occasion as well
- Educational or work experience in drafting (specifically CAD), BIM modelling (Revit) and designing.
- Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as current versions of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Good working knowledge and experience of drawing/model setup, project sheet setup, details etc.
- Previous experience working as a BIM modeler/CAD technologist at a Structural engineering firm considered a strong asset.
- Hands on construction experience and/or work with existing facilities is considered an asset
- Hands on CAD experience working on plans and details for new and/or existing buildings.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis
- Working knowledge of construction materials and products used in building construction, with a focus on concrete, steel, wood, and masonry
- Interest in applying new technology to support project processes
