Nelson is actively seeking freelance Science Education Writers, for elementary and secondary specializations respectively, to join our dynamic team of digital learning resource creators. Do you love storytelling and creating engaging, easy-to-understand science content with a purpose? Our science education team is involved in developing concept-based learning objects, labs and investigations, digital interactives, hands-on engagement tools, assessments, and more.
This role will involve research, creative input, editorial expertise, sound writing/authoring skills, understanding of children and youth learning levels, quick turnaround, and a flexible mindset to shift between projects as required.

As a Science Education Writer, you will be tasked with writing and developing genuine, engaging, and experiential digital learning experiences across Nelson’s resource library. In no more than 300 words, please submit a writing sample highlighting and explaining an emerging technology of your choice to either a Grade 5 or Grade 9 audience. Your written piece should address the emerging technologies expectation of the new Ontario curriculum, be an appropriately leveled digital learning object, and show a strong understanding of science and technology.
