Job Purpose
We are looking for an HR amp; Payroll Coordinator to undertake a variety of HR administrative duties and supporting our full payroll cycle. To succeed in this role, you should be familiar with using HR software and tools. Ultimately, you should be able to contribute to attainment of specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities amp; Accountabilities
- Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay, in an accurate and timely manner
- Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, Records of Employment and other statements
- Maintain physical and digital records on the HRIS system to ensure effective recording, maintaining, and reporting of human resource information, updating employee files, status changes, address changes, training, and disciplinary records, etc.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to manage employee data, payroll transactions, and reconcile payroll reports
- Manage and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees in a timely and professional manner
- Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Participate and coordinate JHSC, identify workplace hazards and ways to eliminate or reduce risks, including overseeing hazardous material identification and control
- Provide Hamp;S training as required or requested and manage the training matrix to ensure compliance with legislated training requirements
- Submit WSIB incidents and injures and lost time injuries
- Act as a point of contact and provide support to employees in various HR related topics such as payroll, benefits, leaves, training, health and safety
- Assist and support with employee engagement initiatives
- Prepare and submit reports on general HR activities, such as turnover, absenteeism, Hamp;S.
- Act as back up for HR Generalist and HR Team.
- Perform other HR related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- 1-2 years work experience as an HR Administrator, HR Assistant, or similar role with focus on payroll systems
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources
- Familiarity with HRIS (Ceridian) is an asset
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Must have exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken)
- Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices
- Ability to handle data with confidentiality
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
