Job Summary

In this full-time role, the incumbent will focus on the administration of the approval process throughout the plant through measuring, testing, recording, and reporting results of new product development and new part samples prior to the release of products for production. The successful candidate will collaborate with the product development, mold shop, production, set-up and processing teams, as well as certification agencies, technical services group, and other corporate groups.


Principle Accountabilities

  • Measure and test samples from new product trials and document the results
  • Create detailed dimensional and product testing reports to assist the development team in making informed tooling and processing decisions.
  • Complete dimensioning, testing and reporting to satisfy certification agency requirements for approvals
  • Create new part approval binders capturing all pertinent product related information in one location making it accessible for future reference
  • Measure and analyze data using statistical methods, capability studies, and creating run and control charts
  • Work with the QA Manager to organize certification agency witness testing and submissions for part certification
  • Solve problems and develop corrective action for issues that arise during part approvals
  • Generate, review, and update several different document requirements (pack instructions, inspection reports, test methods)
  • Review, approve, and monitor moulding providers to verify they are capable of ongoing production that meets all IPEX requirements
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints through testing or measuring samples as required
  • Assist with gauge calibration scheduling and adherence to procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized (5S) QA lab and testing facilities, and equipment
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as the need arises

Requirements

  • Minimum college diploma or certificate (university degree preferred)
  • Quality Assurance certificate from a recognized institution or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering would be and asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance processes, and measuring skills along with ISO standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and experience with problem solving techniques
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite of products, including Excel
  • Mechanical competence, and the ability to trouble shoot testing fixtures and test set up
  • Works well in a team and a good collaborator
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks and projects and use sound judgment based on previous practices and precedence
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to produce quality work and desire to achieve goals and results

Working Conditions

  • Often works in an office environment with long periods of sitting
  • Exposure to a considerable level of hazards consistent with a manufacturing environment, such as chemicals, commercial products, toxins, moving machinery, repetitive motion, excessive noise, powered industrial vehicles
  • May be required to perform a moderate level of specific tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, muscular action, body movements, working positions, posture changes, visual attentiveness
  • Will occasionally wear protective eyewear, appropriate gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes, and/or other PPE
  • There may be minimal travel to other IPEX locations for training opportunities, or information sharing
