About the Product Designer role

We’re looking for a creative, innovative, and customer-obsessed experienced Product Designer to join Float and be part of a team that’s building the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada.

Float’s a product-led business, and as a Product Designer embedded in the Product team, you will work with other Designers, our customers, and other employees that use Float to help build intuitive and innovative interfaces and workflows. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building a seamless onboarding experience, and creating and capturing value by accelerating the adoption and usage of our existing products.

Requirements

As a Product Designer at Float:

  • You’ll work closely with the design team, product managers, and engineers to see a product from concept through implementation and beyond.
  • You’ll utilize research and work closely with our customers, listening to them and translating their needs into compelling user experiences and designs.
  • You’ll own the look, feel, and experience of our user-facing application, design flows, and experiences, ensuring they’re simple and elegant.
  • You’ll take broad, conceptual ideas and transform them into useful and valuable experiences for our customers.
  • You’ll learn, grow, and be celebrated for your hard work and great attitude.

What your week-to-week looks like:

  • Work with our customers to gain a deep understanding of their experiences and needs, identifying and filling product gaps while generating new ideas that scale, grow market share, empower our customers, and drive growth.
  • Develop and deliver high-level and detailed storyboards, concept diagrams, user interface sketches, mock-ups, prototypes, and detailed design specifications to communicate design and interaction.
  • Iterate with feedback and key learnings, collaborating with team members to incorporate best practices.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize and scope activities based on business and customer impact: features that move the needle.
  • Continuously analyze customer feedback and find ways to measure product outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure the design aligns with the technology.
  • Manage key vendor relationships supporting Float’s product.
  • Communicate the ‘why’ behind the product roadmap, prioritization, and sequencing.
  • Work closely with our product, engineering, and ops teams to remove roadblocks and deliver with rapid time-to-market and optimal resources. Speed and agility are essential.
  • Deliver successful product launches in partnership with marketing, sales, and other key stakeholders.
  • Create and implement user flows and user interface specifications in collaboration with product management and engineering teams.
  • Create product specs, think through customer challenges, and technical edge cases.
  • Break down complex problems into steps that drive rapid product development.

You’ll be great in this role if:

  • You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 5+ years of Product Design experience, ideally with a bachelor’s degree (though that’s not required). You’re scrappy and enjoy finding creative ways to work through obstacles. You’ve taken ownership of the product experience before and have outstanding project management skills.
  • You know great design. Proficient in
