Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Transit Supervisor, the Transit Dispatcher is responsible for the dispatch of drivers and providing accurate direction. The role also includes providing a high degree of customer service in a fast-paced work environment.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Excellent, strong, proven customer service experience
- Take responsibility for the Emergency Response Plan in the event of a serious collision in conjunction with management
- Utilize radio to communicate effectively with all route drivers
- Alert drivers to road closures and other delays
- Manage and pull a variety of reports as per the Transit Supervisor’s directive
- Manage and assist with scheduling vehicle maintenance as required
- Answer phones, fax, and email correspondence in a professional and courteous manner
- Clean criminal record search
- Excellent time and stress management skills
- Good organization and communication skills
- Computer software experience in MS Office 365
- Understanding of dispatching software and previous experience in a transportation company an asset
- Be available for a variety of shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays etc. Hours are subject to change but will range from 5:00am to 10:00pm
- Ability to multitask efficiently
- Ability to adapt to new processes and technologies quickly
