The Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting is primarily responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting for both the Canadian and US operations. This includes more complex components of the full accounting cycle and managing initial escalations from other team members. The Senior Financial Analyst, Accounting will also be actively involved in implementing a new ERP system through 2023 and 2024.
Primary objectives of the role
- Manage month-/quarter-/year-end closing process, including recording of all accruals, review of GL and preparation of financial package
- Review billing, AP/AR, insurance rebates and central payments
- Provide support to external audits
- Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders to implement new ERP system
- Assist junior team members in resolving common challenges
- Update internal policies and procedures as required
- Support both the Finance Manager and Director with key initiatives
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Core competencies
- Knowledge of the full accounting cycle
- Knowledge of Sage 50 accounting system is an asset
- Communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Good judgement when making decisions and soliciting feedback from others
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, adapt to change, and manage ambiguity
- Problem solving/troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Office, accounting systems and an ability to learn new applications quickly
- ERP System Implementation experience is an asset
Education and qualifications
- Completion of university degree in accounting or business
- Accounting designation (CPA) completed or near completion
- Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience
- Commitment to continued education/training in leadership, finance, and accounting
- Work experience in the USA or Europe is an asset
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
Work environment and other requirements
- This role is based out of our corporate office in Oakville, Ontario which is an open concept office
- This is a hybrid role, working from the office 2-3 times per week
Travel requirements
- Minimal, less than 5% - possible travel throughout Canada and USA for industry/staff events
