Job Description

Job Summary

The People amp; Culture Intern performs various administrative tasks and support the People and Culture department’s daily activities. The People amp; Culture Intern responsibilities include updating employee records with new hire information, screening resumes and scheduling interviews. The incumbent will respond to employee inquiries, oversee the calendar of events, maintain policies, prepare documentation, and perform various administrative functions.

This is a full time internship placement from May August 2024

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversees and coordinates the People amp; Culture calendar of events.
  • Provides administrative support for People amp; Culture meetings and committees.
  • Provide support for on-going projects including but not limited to HRIS implementation.
  • Assists with the development, tracking, enforcement, and revision of HR policies.
  • Responds to general inquiries related to HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Assists with recruitment efforts for both full time and part time team members; schedule interviews, check reference, follow-up with candidates, and participate in an annual career fair to recruit applicants for seasonal part time positions.
  • Performs administrative functions such as preparing employment offer letters and job descriptions and coordinating new hire onboarding and the offboarding process.
  • Provides the People amp; Culture team with logistical and administrative support for HR programs and special projects.
  • Assists with the basic day-to-day administrative activities related to the programs, ensuring that these tasks are completed on time and accurately.
  • Assists in the preparation of HR training material, e.g. health and safety, workplace accommodation, performance management.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a University Degree or College Diploma Human Resources program requiring completion of an internship for credit.
  • Personable, able to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Problem solving capabilities necessary to accomplish the duties and tasks of the position
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team-oriented environment.
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail
  • Bilingualism (English amp; French) is a strong asset
  • A sense of humour is required
